//I once read a saying along the lines: We can never step into the same river twice. That idea of time passing, of things being the same but ever-changing, intrigues me. //

The British-born artist Lisa Holden (1961) is based in Amsterdam, the Netherlands.
Her multi-layered digital photo-works explore themes such as personal and collective identity, memory, and the boundary between the real and the imagined.

In a painstaking process, Holden integrates hand-painted sections into her digital compositions, often photographing and re-photographing parts of the image to produce a final work that has a sense of depth, texture and movement.

Lisa Holden’s work has appeared in countless magazines, including the spring 2013 issue of Korean Photography Journal Photo+. She also features in 3D: Darkly Digital and Divine, a documentary on digital photography by Robert Adanto.

Recent shows include a solo at Diemar|Noble in London in 2011 and group shows at The Nunnery, London and 7th Lane in Oslo. Lisa Holden has shown at numerous international art fairs including UNSEEN (organized by FOAM, Amsterdam), Photo LA, Photo Miami, FIAC, Paris Photo, MadridFoto and AIPAD New York.

Holden’s work is represented in the collection of the Peabody Essex Museum, the collections of ABN AMRO, the Rabobank, Achmea, Gas Unie and public and private collections in Europe and the USA.
